CHENNAI
1R : ASHWA DEV (1) could pave the way in the opener of the season. Speedy SUNNY ISLES (9) is the next best. The no-whip clause looks suited for front rusher PRESTO POWER (6).
2R : VIJAYA (5) stands tall on bloodline. RINELLO (1), who finished with a rattle to gain the runner-up berth at Ooty, should find the longer Chennai hone stretch to his liking. DIAMOND GOLD (3) would glitter and gleam if he were to reproduce his sparkling workouts on the track.
3R : CLOCKWISE (1) should bag this race in with clockwise precision. Consistent MULTIWAVE (2) is the primary threat. The one capable of giving the jitters to the ones in the betting could well be I WANT IT ALL (3).
4R : In-form GREENWICH (9) and consistent SPECULATION (4) are the prime contenders. DIAMOND AND PEARLS (2) is the joker in this pack.
5R : MONTELENA (7), with the top rider aboard, is the pick of the lot. The only three-year-old in this field, MULTICROWN (10), receives weight from the field, and that could play to his advantage. Racing below the last winning mark, FIRST EMPRESS (6) could bounce back to form on the opening day of the season.
6R : MOGUL (1) and SLAINTE (5) ought to dispute the issue. FUN STORM (6) is the one most likely to follow the aforementioned duo home.
7R : DARK SON (1) and TIMELESS ROMANCE (4), who were at their best on this track last year, should be the ones to fancy. BERRETTINI (6) gives his best when fresh, and he ought to be considered for that.
8R : An upset seems to be in the offing in the finale of the day. The ones that deserve a look are SKYLIGHT (1), MYSTIC ZLATAN (4), and DANCING QUEEN (10).

Top-three chance with that run under his belt. MI ARION (5) is a four-start maiden who resumed from a spell last start and was beaten 13 lengths when ninth over 1400m at this track. Has good early speed so should take up a forward position. In the mix.
6R : PRINCE IGOR (4) is in sparkling form this time in, the latest a course and distance winner by a long neck, making it two wins on end. Rates well and looks tough to beat again. BOMBER (8) ran below expectations last time at this track, finishing seventh and beaten 8 lengths starting at $2.80. Finds a suitable assignment and can get the job done. Group 3 placegetter FASHION ICON (3) missed the placings two runs back then improved last start but found a couple better over 1400m at this track, beaten 2.5 lengths. Has the class to produce another positive result. MIGHTY THUNDER (11) finished third last start over 1200m at this track, beaten 4 lengths. Ideally placed and is sure to play a pivotal role.
