KOLKATA REVIEW
R : SHAI (1) finished fifth at this track and distance at his last appearance six months ago. Looks a winning chance. THALAMES (3) finished third on debut nine months ago, beaten 6 lengths over 1400m at this track, and has not been produced since. Likely improver and is a solid top-three chance. SANDRINE (2) resumes from a spell of six months. Could only manage to finish sixth at the latest run over 1400m at this track. Has ability and is a leading player. CHETAK (6) was in the money at this track when resuming two runs back then could only manage fourth at this track over 1200m eight days ago. Has the pace to take a forward position. Has ability and rates among the chances.
R : TRUE MARSHAL (2) scored by 6 lengths when resuming last start at this track over 1200m. Form over this journey is strong, boasting three wins from five starts. Has the gate speed to take up a forward position. Will give a great sight. BASHARAT (4) finished third when resuming from a spell last start over 1200m at this track. Has a win and three placings at this journey from eight starts. Has the right profile. Group 3 placegetter MORNING STAR (5) finished second last time over 1200m at this track when resuming from a spell, beaten 6 lengths. Placed to advantage and can take this out. HIDDEN GOLD (1) was never really a threat when resuming last start over 1200m at this track, finishing 10 lengths from the winner in fourth. Has the pace to settle in the leading division. Not to be discounted.
R : EASTSIDE (6) finished third when resuming two runs back at this track then progressed nicely last time out to score by 2.25 lengths over 1100m at this track. S Saqlain scored on her last time and retains the ride. Meeting a tougher field but on current form she is capable of testing her rivals. RIMEL (1) returned to winning form as favourite last start, scoring by 4 lengths over today's journey at this track. Has a good record at this trip with two wins and zero placings. Definite winning hope. RODRIGO (2) is having his first run since March 9. Goes very well when fresh with two wins from two starts, the latest over 1000m at Pune at the start of last prep. Makes plenty of appeal. HORUS THE GREAT (4) closed last campaign with six consecutive minor placings and is back today after a break of six-and-a-half months. Has good early speed so should take up a forward position. One of the better hopes.
R : Group 3 winner LONG LEASE (3) made it two wins in a row last start when she scored by 1.5 lengths over 1200m at Mysore. Winning rider Suraj Narredu retains the mount. Facing a tougher assignment but she is capable of running another bold race. GALATICUS (2) was a strong winner last time over 1200m at this track, scoring by half a length to make it three on end. Likely to push forward and race on the pace. Leading contender. SEA EAGLE (4) scored last start at this track to make it two wins from four starts this campaign. Has the gate speed to take up a forward position. Capable of testing this field. DANCE ALONG (1) resumed from a spell two weeks ago and scored by 3 lengths over 1100m at this track in a bright start to the campaign. The least likely to win in the small field.

R : LA DOMINATE (3) is a promising three-year-old colt who returned from a break last start and finished half a length away in second over 1200m at this track. Won at his only second-up run so there is plenty of scope for improvement. Group 3 placegetter CLIFFORD (1) finished 3 lengths away in fourth last time out over 1200m at this track two weeks ago. Tackles a longer journey this time. Has the pace to settle in the leading division. Will prove tough to beat. TORINO (5) finished third last time over 1200m at this track when resuming from a spell, beaten 2.5 lengths. Yet to miss the frame in two starts over this course and distance. Goes up a rung or two but he is good enough to make a big impact. HORNBILL (2) wasn't far away on debut last start over 1100m at this track, finishing third and beaten 5 lengths. Open to plenty of improvement.
R : Multiple Group 3 winner AWESOME ONE (1) returned from a spell two weeks ago when he was beaten 9 lengths into sixth over 1100m at this track. Facing a tougher assignment but he is fitter and worth serious consideration. DELPHINI (4) scored by 2.75 lengths when resuming last start at this track over 1100m. Is yet to miss the frame from seven starts at this distance, including four wins. Akshay Kumar has been the pilot at her last two wins. Bold showing expected. Multiple Group 1 placegetter GOLDEN OAKS (5) resumes. Didn't make an impact at his only run last prep on July 16 finishing eighth and beaten 30 lengths over 1400m in Group 2 class at Bangalore. Has a high cruising speed. Will give backers a great sight. SAVVY CHIC (3) is back from a three months spell and she does run well first-up, including a win over 1400m at Bangalore at the start of last prep. Worth plenty of thought.
R : DRAGON'S GOLD (1) returned from a spell three weeks ago when he was beaten 9 lengths into fourth over 1400m at Mysore. Has a fair record when second up, including two top-three finishes. Enjoys a drop in grade so he will prove hard to beat. GHOST (2) finished out of the money when fresh from a spell two starts back then was beaten 4 lengths when fourth over 1400m at this track eight days ago. Nicely placed to take this out. JINSOKU (3) finished 6 lengths adrift in fifth at this track over 1400m at his latest appearance. Likely get his own way in front in the small field and will be hard to catch. SIXTY SEVEN (4) has not raced since her debut on March 23 over 1400m at this track when she finished seventh, beaten 17 lengths. Top-three chance with that run under her belt.
